Giraffes are just fun.

They are fun to watch and to paint.

These giraffe paintings were an effort to split the face down the middle

and paint one side in light and one side in shadow.

Learning to Paint

Learning to Paint

Shortly after I opened River Run Gallery Fun Art Studio

Sandy came in and wanted to take a class.

She said she always wanted to paint, but a teacher had told her she was no good at it.

Well,

she wasn't going to let those words stop her forever.

She came.

She painted.

She improved.

Tonight she painted an intermediate level painting

and did a wonderful job.

Sandy likes painting landscapes and 

this painting had lots of different parts of a landscape.

She painted snow,

trees,

a rocky road

a mountain

and a cabin.

She did a great job!

One of the reasons Sandy does so well is she comes to learn.

She listens and takes direction.  

She practices at home.

She paints lots of different things.

She never gives up.  

Here she is signing her finished painting.  

Never give up on your dream. 

Even if you think you might never accomplish it,

Keep working,

 keep moving forward,

keep practicing,

keep improving,

But most of all,

Keep Dreaming!

Tonight was a really fun evening.

Six friends came to create artwork for a co-workers soon to arrive baby.

The baby's nick name is Benny and his room has lots of palm trees,

and jungle animals.

We combined the two and each lady painted a letter with an animal on it.

We're getting started in this short video.

Break time.

Well, you have to eat, right?

That painting is hard work.

Finishing up these fun cute paintings.

These ladies had a great idea.

Retirement Party

What a Fun Retirement Party!

 These ladies got together for the retirement of Crystal.

You're going to learn a lot in this class and it probably will take

all three hours to complete it.  

But, it will be fun and you will do great work!

Tonight I painted with some really great kids!

I am so proud of them and the work they did.

I swore them to secrecy on how I paint snow.

It's an art secret that they promised to not reveal.

You know the secret about underpainting the snow purple or lavender.

They all swore they would never tell.

Here they are beginning their snowmen.

And here's the finished snowmen.

Hey parents,

One of my art friends suggested you could make your Christmas cards out

of photographs of your kids paintings.  

You could use any number of printers,

but that would be fun wouldn't it.

So,

what is a group of snowmen called?  

They aren't a gaggle,

or a pride

or a covey.

Fiber Artist Sylvia Brestel creates these lovely items using 100% pure silk and wool fibers

in her felting process.

She will be available to answer your questions about her art and her process,
