Class Descriptions, Times and Prices.

For specific classes during the month and a way to sign up and pay for a class, please click on Calendar of Classes and Events.

All classes except for Lunch and Learn, need to be reserved and paid for in advance by calling 502-523-0663.   Descriptions of all classes are below.

Lunch and Learn is a free art demonstration every Friday of every month from noon until 1 p.m.  Everyone is invited to bring your own lunch and watch as gallery owner, Sharon Graves, or other invited artist, gives an art demo of a painting in progress.  Tables and chairs will be set up for you to eat and watch the demo.

Adult painting classes are $40 per person and run 6-9 p.m. during the week and 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday.  Please check schedule for class description and times and dates.  I supply all art supplies including paints, brushes, canvas, easels, and incidentals as well as easy to follow group and personal instruction.  You supply your own cover-up, in case you are messy like me, and a great attitude.   These classes are lots of fun, especially if you gather up your tribe and make a reservation for your group.  If your group would like to paint something we have already completed, we can arrange it.  You just need a minimum group of 4 pre-paid in advance.  We can also schedule a class on another night to meet the needs of your group.  Take six classes in a year and receive one free.

Open studio hours is for anyone who has taken a class during the month and is the 4th Wednesday of the month.  Open studio is for the students to work on their own project using their own tools.  I supply the place and individual help as wanted or needed.  Space is limited to 8 students per open studio so reservations and pre-payment are required.  Cost $10.

Mom, Monet and Me Level 1 is for students ages 5-9 and must be accompanied by an adult.  Students will learn basic art concepts, how to follow directions and unleash their inner artist.  All art supplies will be provided.    Paintings will be on an 8” x 10” stretched canvas and will be age appropriate for content and ability.  Cost $25. Reservations and pre-pay required by calling 502-523-0663.  Class size is limited to four adults and four children.

Young Artists Level 1  is for students ages 5-12 and have taken a minimum of three classes with me.  Adults do not need to accompany the artists for these classes.  Students will learn more complex art concepts as they complete an 8" x 10" painting.  These students are looking for art instruction and not just a beginning level class.  $25

Garden Stone Classes  These paintings are done on 12" x 12" outdoor tile.  They have several coats of an outdoor varnish on them before you paint on them and then after you paint on them we "try" to add several more coats of the varnish to protect them from the weather.  Sometimes we can't in the gallery because of weather.  It has to be done outside and if it's too humid or below freezing we can't do it here, but you can at home.  $30

Tile Coasters  This year we will be adding a class where you will make four coasters using a single theme.  They will come with either a backing on them or four protectors on the corners and several coats of varnish.  Then when we are finished painting them we will give them several more coats of varnish weather permitting.  $30

Art Concepts Class are held once a month and are designed to teach deeper art concepts.  No finished painting will be completed but you will complete many exercises teaching things like color mixing, composition, shapes and forms, etc.  $25

Paintings We've Done in Classes Already.
I'm showing you these paintings in case you would like to plan your own group and use one of these paintings for your subject.  If you have an idea you would like to pursue, please call me at 502-523-0663 and we'll work out your plan.

These classes featuring rooster were lots of fun with those great big tail feathers.

This large gerbera daisy has been very popular and has even been done by a couple on a date night.  She painted as you see here and he painted it flipped so it looked like a half of a flower.  20" x 16

This barn painting was done by a group of women who some had never painted before and they did a great job.  Don't let it fool you into thinking you can't do it. We added a lean to shed on the left and took out the stall.
20" x 16"

This gift box is lots of fun because you're learning perspective of the box and that nice big bow, plus you learn how to mix paint for that shadow.
14" x 11"

This 16" x 20" ornament painting though a very simple composition teaches about reflections, form, shadows and of course bows.

This 20" x 16" painting of hydrangeas in a vase can be converted to many different colors.  Don't worry about painting the glass vase, it's much easier than you might think.

This 20" x 16" zinnia painting is unusual because it starts with a dark canvas.  The colors pop right off the canvas.

Mr. Snowman was a favorite this Christmas season with children and adults.  You can add your own creative voice with the hat, scarf, size and shape of the snowman or even make him a her.  20" x 16".

Koi Fish was a very popular painting with adults and some 4-H'ers.  You have lots of options as to how many fish and what color and what type of marbelizing you give them.
20" x 16"
Fireworks was part of a teen camp held during the summer.  Students learn about creatingdistance, nocturnal skies and of course how to paint fireworks.
20" x 16"

This was also part of teen camp but could be done by any age.  That tree is not as difficult as your mind is telling you it is.
20" x 16"

For Mom, Monet and Me classes we often do an adaptation of some of the adult paintings, but we also do things directed towards children.  These next paintgs represent that.  These are all painted on an 8" x 10" stretched canvas and do not need to be framed but can be.
These can mostly be done in about an hour.

This is an interesting abstract painting, giving your child a lot of leeway in creativity.
Very similar to the adult size painting, your child has the opportunity to work on reflections and color selection as well as form and painting ribbons.

This owl is lots of fun with lots of creative options.
This is part of a series of animals we've done.
This gift box teaches perspective and how to create it and shadows and how to paint a bow.

Snowman was a favorite for kids and adults.  There are lots of things to be learned in painting this very simple snowman.

This elephant is a fun animal to paint because there's so many options for creativity in it.

Painting this football was lots of fun for boys and girls.
Children can decorate it in their team colors.

Mr. Giraffe was a favorite, but it is more difficult than a brand new painter might like.
The goal of this painting is to explore warm and cool colors, lights and darks and learning what is what.

If you would like to schedule a class you can click on the page titled Calendar of Classes and Events and you can see what is being taught in the current month.
You can also register and pay for your class right on the page.
