But You're the active type, so what's there for you.

Now, if you wanted something a little more active from your visit to Carrollton we have lots of options for you.  We have a brand new river walk that you can access at the foot of Fifth St., and wander along the river till you reach Point Park where you can put in your boat, have a picnic lunch, play in the skate park and on several areas of playground equipment or play sand volleyball.

Point Park is where the Ohio and the Kentucky rivers meet and you can walk on a trail to the newest campground in Carrollton, Two Rivers campground at 320 Second St.  You can make your reservation there by calling 502-732-4665.

Two Rivers Adventures is a great place to rent a canoe or kayak and is located at 402 Main St. facing the Ohio River.  Brent Leite offers you a great river experience and you can be your own guide on the Kentucky and Ohio rivers as well as many small streams and tributaries in the area.  Brent has also begun a moonlight float that would be a fun date night.  Brent can be reached at 502-525-4019 or at info@tworiversadventures.com.  Brent’s trips begin at $35 for a kayak and $50 for a canoe.  He is open from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday and is closed Monday and Tuesday.  Get all the scoop on his website at http://www.tworiversadventures.com/

Carrollton also boasts General Butler State Park, where you can stay in the lodge, rent a cabin or camp in the campground, but you better call in advance for a reservation, because it is a popular place.  It’s just about a mile or so off I-71 so it is very accessible. GBSP offers a 9 hole golf course, mini golf, tennis courts, fishing, playgrounds, the Butler-Turpin museum, basketball courts, picnicking, and at certain times of the year even train rides.  That’s packing a lot of fun into one place.  At the lodge, across from the golf course, is Two Rivers Restaurant, where you can get a delicious meal and on Mon-Fri you can try their wonderful lunch buffet.  502-732-4384.

Highland Ave. in the spring.  It is a beautiful drive with every kind of flowering tree around every corner.  You don't want to miss this sight.

Looking down Main St. towards Point Park.  More flowering trees and cute shops.

Are You Hungry Yet?

Down On Main Street is a full service restaurant and sports bar and is located at 508 Main St.    Grab a burger or a steak and watch a game.  Great family dining as well as a fun place to enjoy with friends.  Watch out when Kentucky is playing though, because it has been known to get a little crazy then.  Reservations not needed unless you’re having a big group, and they do have a party room upstairs.  You can give them a jingle at 502-662-0262.

Across the street is Welch’s Restaurant, a place where locals go daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  You can eat in their enclosed porch and watch the river and the boats and barges that pass hourly.  Good country cooking.

If pizza is your pleasure, Hometown Pizza at 2353 Hwy 227, right off the interstate, is the place to go.  Big sit down dining room, a lunch buffet Monday-Friday, and great atmosphere for the family or date night.
